Production on this album started October of 2020. By December 2020, the album had become a gritty alt-rap album. At the time there were 10 tracks from which to start writing. From this the album title "Kushman in Cakefield" was given. The future for the album was a fun and ironic experience.

In February 2021, the music and writing for the track "I Need You" was roughly completed and changed the course of the album. Not only the production value (which many tracks rated suitable for the album were not of the new higher quality). but also, lyrical content.

The album ended up having a lot more depth than intended and the OB-6 keyboard became heavily featured in the production. To add layers of complexity to the tracks with less lyrical content, the Cocoquantus was used.

In the end, the album was shaved down to 6 songs total. Some of the other tracks will be released later in a separate release. Every track has its own individual feel, but adds to the "Kushman in Cakefield" reference which means "Calm guy in New York".
